| Auto-ID Center/Labs |
The Auto-ID Center is the scientific predecessor of EPCglobal and was established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) at the University of Boston. Further AutoID-Labs were established for example in Sankt Gallen (CH) and in Cambridge (UK). Auto-ID is the abbreviation for “automatic identification”.
