| CEPT |
The Conférence Européenne des Administrations des Postes et des Télécommunications: The European Conference of the Post and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) represents 46 European countries and draws up recommendations which at the same time interact with the Directives of the EU and the European standards. CEPT maintains an intensive liaison with the European Union, from which it received a harmonization brief and the mandate to standardize information and communication technologies in Europe. For this purpose, CEPT maintains the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). Auto-ID is the abbreviation for “automatic identification”.
